This promotion is intended for viewing and participation
in Canada only by legal residents of the Province of British Columbia
and shall be subject to and constructed in accordance with the
laws of Canada and that province. Please do not proceed if you
are not a legal resident of the province of British Columbia. Entry
of videos for the Grand Prize portion of the contest is limited
to legal residents of the province of British Columbia between
the ages of 13 years to 24 years at time of entry. By entering
a video in this contest the entrant relinquishes all right of ownership,
including copyright, in that video and, in doing so, transfers
ownership of that video to the Contest Operator. Entry into this
Contest constitutes your acceptance of these Official Rules and
Regulations.
How to Enter: To enter the BC Hydro “Off the Grid Online
Video Contest” (the “Contest” or “Contest”)
you must create a 30 to 60 second video based on Energy Conservation
and then enter the microsite www.offthegridvideo.com and complete the
submission form with complete name, city, phone number, date of birth,
email address,the title of your video and upload your film. All entrants
under the age of 19 years require parental or legal guardian consent
to be submitted online prior to entry into the contest. All contest video
submissions are subject to approval by BC Hydro Communications Department
(the “Contest Operator”) and must not contain any nudity,
profanity or obscene subject matter nor use branded logos or trademarks,
licensed music or licensed video content nor contain any anti-BC Hydro
references. All videos must be original work of the entrant and not infringe
the rights of any third party. The contest opens Tuesday, September 4,
2007 at 09:01:00 Pacific time and ends Friday, September 28, 2007 at
16:59:00 Pacific time for video submissions to the contest and ends Thursday,
October 4,2007 at 16:59:00 Pacific time for on-line voting (the “Contest
Periods”).
HOW TO WIN: There are three
(3) different categories of prize winners in this contest: Grand
Prize winners, Voters’ Choice
Prize winner and Voter Prize winners.
1. GRAND PRIZE: On or about October 1, 2007 a judging committee
comprised of staff from BC Hydro Communications Department, and the
Gulf Island Film and Television School (GIFTS) will judge the Energy
Conservation videos submitted and eligible for consideration. The
following set of criteria will be used for the judging based on a
maximum of 100 points:
- Message of Energy Conservation 40 points
- Originality 30
points
- Creativity 30
points
In the event of a tie in overall points, the
video/s achieving the highest number of points in the criterion of “Message of Energy
Conservation” will be declared the winner/s.
A total of 10 videos will be chosen for the Grand Prize and those Selected
Entrants will be contacted by telephone or email by no later than October
5, 2007. Before being declared a winner, the Selected Entrants will
be required to sign a Declaration and Release form stating that he/she
has read, understood and complied with these Contest Rules, grants
all consents required as contemplated in these Contest Rules, authorizes
the Contest Operator and/or their promotional agents to broadcast,
publish and disseminate his/her name, address, photograph, likeness
and voice, in connection with any promotion or publicity, and/or for
general news, entertainment and information purposes at no compensation
to the winner, except the prize as awarded and confirming the release
described in the following sentence. By entering this Contest, each
entrant hereby releases the Contest Operator and its operating divisions,
affiliated corporations and their respective officers, directors, employees
and agents from any and all liability of any kind arising out of the
entrant's participation in this Contest and, if applicable, receipt
and use of the prize. If the Selected Entrant is a minor, his/her parent
or legal guardian must complete the forms on their behalf.
2. VOTERS’ CHOICE PRIZE: On or
about October 5, 2007 the video having received the most votes online
by contest voting close will be eligible to win the Voters’ Choice
Prize and the Selected Entrant (or their parent /legal guardian if
a minor) will be required to complete the Declaration and Release
forms as outlined above before being declared a winner. In the event
of a tie, a random draw will be held amongst those tied to determine
the Selected Entrant.
3. VOTER’S PRIZE: On or about October
5, 2007 three Selected Entrants will be randomly chosen from the
online voters eligible to win the Voter’s Prize. Before being declared a winner, the
Selected Entrants (or their parent/legal guardian if a minor) will
be required to complete the Declaration and Release forms as outlined
above and correctly answer a time- limited mathematical skill- testing
question. Voters may vote for as many videos as they like on a daily
basis however only one vote per video per day will be permitted and
all votes per day will be entered in the draw for the Voter’s
Prize per eligible voter.
ADMINISTRATION: This
contest is administered and operated by BC Hydro Communications
Department (the “Contest
Operator”). The decisions of the video contest judges who may
be employees of the Contest Operator and Gulf Islands Film and Television
Schools (Gifts) are final and binding in all matters as they relate
to this contest, including without limitation, eligibility and/or disqualification
of entries.
ELIGIBILITY: The contest is
open to all legal residents of the province of British Columbia,
Canada, 13 years to 24 years of age for the Video Grand Prize and
Voters’ Choice Prize and
to all legal residents of British Columbia (no age restriction) for
the Voter’s Prize. The contest is not open to employees and
representatives (or those with whom they are domiciled) of BC Hydro
Communications Department ( Contest Operator) or judging committee
and Consumer-Response Marketing Ltd. (the official contest judging
organization). Age restrictions in place to ensure relative
experience and fairness.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: If for any reason in the opinion
of the Contest Operator, in their sole and absolute discretion, the
Contest is not capable of running as planned or if the administration,
security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest is
corrupted or adversely affected, including by reason of infection
by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud,
technical failures, or any other causes beyond its control, the Contest
Operator reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend
the Contest, including canceling any method of entry, and selecting
a winner from previously received eligible entries.
The Contest Operator will not be responsible for telephone, technical,
network, online, electronic, computer hardware or software failures
of any kind, misdirected, stolen, incomplete, garbled or delayed Internet/e-mail
computer transmissions on account of technical problems or traffic
congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof,
including any injury or damage to any participant's or any other person's
computer relating to or resulting from participation or downloading
any materials in connection with this Contest. The Contest Operator
is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the offer or
administration of this Contest, including but not limited to errors
in advertising, these official rules, the selection or announcement
of winners or the distribution of any prize. The Contest Operator:
(i) makes no warranty, guarantee or representation of any kind concerning
any prize; (ii) disclaims any implied warranty, and (iii) is not liable
for any injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting from the acceptance
or use of any prize or otherwise resulting from participation in this
Contest.
The Contest Operator reserves the right, in their sole and absolute
discretion, to disqualify any individual who is ineligible for the
Contest or who it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the
operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Contest
Rules or otherwise in a disruptive manner. In addition to, but without
limiting any other right of the Contest Operator hereinbefore provided,
the Contest Operator reserves the right to modify the Contest Rules
without materially affecting the terms and conditions of the Contest.
Subject to all applicable Canadian federal, provincial and municipal
laws and regulations, these Contest Rules govern all aspects of the
Contest and are binding on all participants.
In the event of a dispute, online entries will be deemed to have been
submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted
at the time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined
as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an internet
access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g.
business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning
email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email
address.
PRIVACY POLICY: By entering information on the Contest entry
form, you consent to the use of such information to administer, implement and
fulfill this Contest. The Contest Operator assumes no responsibility or liability
whatsoever arising from or in any way related to this Contest or the acceptance
or use of the prizes awarded or for tampering, theft, defects, viruses, human
errors including gross negligence, deletions, technical or telephone problems,
undeliverable messages, computer errors, lost, misdirected, late or incomplete
entries or for any online difficulties that may result in damage or malfunction
the computer or the failure of the Contest Operator to process any entry and
otherwise award any prize. |
